SUMMER 2012 - CLASS SCHEDULE


Sat 14th  Apr   DRAWING STILL LIFE – FABRICS AND CLOTHING        

To get your summer drawing up to speed, a still life featuring shoes, belts and patterned fabrics. Please bring cartridge paper and pencil, charcoal, or other drawing media.

 

Sat 21st Apr     COLLAGE LANDSCAPES FROM YOUR OLD PAINTINGS

A chance to rip and cut the ones that didn’t work out. Using glue, additional collage papers and paint you can grab success from the jaws of mediocrity! If you cannot bear to destroy old work then just make a nice new collage to add to your collection.

 

Sat 28th  Apr   NO ART CLASS THIS WEEK: Stevenson Centre Unavailable


Sat 5th May     COLOURED PENCIL STUDY: STILL LIFE

This class is about using coloured or watercolour pencils as a medium in their own right. The subject will be a mixture of natural items and reflective objects.

 

Sat 12th May    NO ART CLASS THIS WEEK: Stevenson Centre Unavailable

 

Sat 19th May    COASTLINE WATERCOLOURS (2 Week subject)

A two week subject: painting scenes incorporating the rocks, coastal paths and beaches of Britain and further afield. Please bring watercolours and large (preferably stretched) watercolour paper.

 

Sat 26th  May  COASTLINE WATERCOLOURS  (Week 2)

Continuing the coastal landscape you started last lesson.

 

Sat 2nd  Jun      NO ART CLASS THIS WEEK: Stevenson Centre Unavailable Due to Jubilee Celebrations

                      

Sat 9th  Jun      NO ART CLASS THIS WEEK: Half Term   

 

Sat 16th Jun     BRICKWORK STUDY IN MIXED MEDIA

Using watercolour as a base, and incorporating other media as required we will look at different ways of painting bricks and other textured building and wall surfaces. Bring watercolours and any other media you wish to use (pastels, pencils, gouache etc)

 

Sat 23rd Jun     WAX RESIST – UNDERWATER SCENES

Always a fun technique we will be using wax/oil pastels to resist loose watercolour washes. Please bring watercolours, watercolour paper and oil pastels/wax candle/crayons. I have some available to borrow if you do not own any. Photos supplied

 

Sat 30th Jun     MOUNTAIN VIEWS IN WATERCOLOUR

This week we will be painting some dramatic mountain landscapes in watercolour, working from photographs.

 

Sat 7th Jul        TONAL STUDY IN TWO COLOURS; HUMAN FIGURE

                       Using the media of your choice and just two colours we will make a study of the human figure, working from photos of life models and dancers. Please bring watercolour paper for wet media and cartridge or coloured pastel paper for dry media.

 

Sat 14th Jul      SUMMER FLOWERS AND GLASS - WATERCOLOUR

A flower study this week of simple blooms in glass bottles and vases. Working in watercolour.

 

Sat 21st Jul      ALLOTMENT VEG – LINE AND WASH

A chance to paint a still life of just dug veg, complete with roots, leaves and maybe a worm or two. Please bring watercolours and a waterproof liner pen or dip pen and ink (available to borrow).
