SPRING 2010 - CLASS SCHEDULE
Sat 16 Jan DRAWING – STILL LIFE; HOUSEHOLD OBJECTS
A gentle start to the new year, a still life to get you back into drawing. Please bring Cartridge paper, soft pencils, putty rubber.
Sat 23 Jan 2 WEEK PROJECT: WATER IN THE LANDSCAPE
Water adds life and vitality to otherwise dull landscape paintings, anything from puddles to streams to lakes; the shine and reflection can bring your work to life. You will need Watercolour paper and paints.
Sat 30 Jan WATER IN THE LANDSCAPE continued…
Another session to continue last weeks painting.
Sat 6 Feb WATERCOLOUR AND GOUACHE; PAINTING FRUIT
A look at using white body colour to enhance and add a different dimension to pure watercolour. You will need Watercolour paper and paints, ** plus a tube of White Gouache (Acrylic paint is not suitable for this technique.)
Sat 13 Feb OIL RESIST & WATERCOLOUR STILL LIFE
A still life of colourful household and fabric items will be provided. Starting with an under-drawing of Oil Pastels, and moving onto loose washes of watercolour. This technique will be demonstrated, please bring any Oil Pastels you have plus Watercolours (soft pastels are not suitable for this technique.)
Sat 20 Feb NO CLASS – HALF TERM
Sat 27 Feb WATERCOLOUR – SPRING FLOWERS
A botanical subject highly suited to watercolours.
Sat 6 Mar TWO WEEK SUBJECT – MIXING SKINTONES
Working from photos of people we will be making a detailed pencil
drawing during the first week. Please bring Watercolour/Hot press paper and soft pencil. (Feel free to bring a family photo along if you prefer)
Sat 13 Mar MIXING SKINTONES continued…
Starting with a demonstration of mixing accurate skin tones, we will build up last weeks work with washes of watercolour.
Sat 20 Mar LINE AND WASH – STONEWORK DETAILS
Working from photos of architectural details, statues and gargoyles we will make sketches in pen, and overlay with watercolour washes.
Sat 27 Mar WATERCOLOUR TREE STUDY
In readiness for summer outdoor painting opportunities… a chance to look closely at tree and branch shapes.
